Frequently Asked Questions
An energy recovery ventilator combines supply and exhaust air handling with an integrated heat recovery wheel to transfer both heat and moisture between air streams. It brings in fresh outdoor air while recovering energy from exhaust air, reducing the load on HVAC, cooling dehumidification, and dehumidification systems.
By pre-conditioning incoming air, an ERV reduces the moisture and thermal load on downstream equipment such as a commercial dehumidifier or industrial dehumidifier. This makes dehumidification and cooling more energy-efficient — particularly important for commercial buildings, hotels, and healthcare facilities.
An ERV provides ventilation with partial humidity control but is not a standalone dehumidifier. For precise humidity control — especially in applications like cold room dehumidification, swimming pool rooms, or pharmaceutical manufacturing — pair the ERV with a desiccant dehumidifier or refrigeration dehumidifier for optimal results.
Our ERV Series handles 850 to 8,500 CMH, suitable for offices, schools, hospitals, hotels, and commercial dehumidification applications. For larger industrial dehumidification needs, our standalone heat recovery wheels and commercial industrial dehumidifier systems can be combined.
An ERV is excellent for whole-house ventilation with energy recovery. While it helps control indoor humidity, pairing it with a home desiccant dehumidifier or a good dehumidifier provides the best way to dehumidify a house — especially in humid climates where a dehumidifier for home use is essential.
Yes. All SORPS ERV models are BMS integration ready, with optional IoT connectivity for remote monitoring and automatic dehumidifier humidity control — ideal for facility managers overseeing commercial dehumidification across multiple buildings.
